Set in the confines of a single bedroom, dimly lit yet punctured by bursts of strobing lights and hypnotic visuals; we invite you to experience the story of a young gay man navigating his sexual identity and the power it holds as a form of social currency. Over the fifty-minute duration and scored by a hypersonic soundscape, MOLD navigates and probes the relationship the self has with pleasure, control, and shame.
Blurring the line between performance, confession, and control, MOLD delves into relationships through digital intimacy, shame, and queer autonomy. It invites audiences into a hypnotic world where language is fragmented, bodies are offered up for interpretation, and pleasure collides with compulsion. Through poetry, pulsating live sound, and striking visuals, the show resists easy narratives of healing, instead lingering in the uncomfortable, the erotic, and the raw.
What makes MOLD different is its truly interdisciplinary approach. The performance uses live synth as both a score and emotional landscape, with visuals reacting in real time to text and tone. It’s not traditional theatre, nor is it a poetry reading; it’s a live ritual, a fractured monologue, and a sensory experience that implicates the audience in real time.
