The Deniros are back for another live show!! This time at the Water Rats in King’s Cross
+ support from Jack Foz, President Elect, JW Paris and Purple Fly
Jack Foz:
Jack Foz Recipe:
– a pinch of honesty
– A sprinkling of sarcasm
– A heaped teaspoon of indie-rock energy
– A measure of nostalgic 80s synthesiser tones
– A terrible haircut
– A prayer that it doesn’t crash and burn
Calling England’s capital his home, Jack Foz combines thought provoking songwriting with a cheeky London charm that will either make you love him, or think he’s a pretentious knob. Tackling serious subject matters disguised behind a veil of happy sounding indie-rock bops, Jack combines the energy of bands such as The Vaccines and Catfish And The Bottlemen with nostalgic throwback tones, that’ll make you pine for the shell-suits and hairspray of times gone by. Teetering on a knife edge and held together by gaffer tape, the notion that it could fall apart at any point makes Jack Foz one of the most exciting up-and-coming prospects on the UK music scene today: if the wheels come off, at least it’ll be funny.
Jack recently hit back with his third single Millennial Waste Of Air. Taking inspiration from the likes of bands such as The 1975 and Fickle Friends, the upbeat indie-pop banger has already received acclaim from BBC Introducing Three Counties; not a lot was said about the music, but the they loved the name! Why not check the track out now to see what all the hype is about?
President Elect:
President Elect are an electrifying, alternative rock powerhouse, driven by Iggy Waller (vocals and bass), Vincent Barulis (lead guitar), Jude Crook (rhythm guitar) and Zak Waller (drums). With a repertoire of songs that merge captivating hooks with relatable lyricism and distinctive vocals, all whilst capturing an essence that is somewhat nostalgic of late 90s and early 2000s, President Elect are a striking collective that are set to take over the indie rock scene in the upcoming months.
Originally formed by twins Zak and Iggy Waller in 2019, with Vincent joining in 2021 and Jude completing the line up in 2022, helping transform their already well-established songwriting into the larger-than-life tracks that have since infiltrated the London live music scene. They have built a strong reputation for themselves as a tight, energetic and sought-after live act, notably playing a sold out show at The Hope and Anchor, and being selected to play this year’s Vale Fest.
JW Paris:
JW Paris is a 90’s grunge Britpop-inspired three-piece featuring Gemma Clarke, Danny Collins and Aaron Forde.
JW Paris has seen their first four singles ‘Electric Candle Light’, ’Sober’, ‘Favourite Thing’ and ‘Royalty’ gain national and international radio play from Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Absolute Radio and Radio X.
JW Paris’s new single Runaway came out on Friday 22nd July following an exclusive show for John Kennedy (Radio X) and then a packed set at Truck Festival. Runaway has been playlist across Spotify and Apple Music featuring on ‘New in Rock’ and ‘ALT CTRL’
Runaway is about how modern society and culture can seem to have some of us under a technology trance, almost like Orwell’s 1984 hypnotic addiction to the way we are perceived by others. Runaway is a half social commentary about what we do for social gratification and half a hypocritical look at our own life.
Following on from a 12-date UK tour earlier this year, JW Paris hit the Festival scene playing Great Escape, FOCUS Wales and Truck Festival. Now with a potential new EP on the cards they are building up to their first full body of songs in September.
JW Paris has been described as sounding like ‘Joy Division’ and ‘where gritty meets swaggery’, by Chris Hawkins (6 Music) and ‘face-melting riff’s by Jack Saunders (Radio 1)
Purple Fly:
After an overnight, life-changing decision, Kostas Sdoukos landed in London with his guitar and the idea of Purple Fly. The Athenian envisioned a band united with the fans, unleashing their truest emotions on a stage where they share songs of honesty and addressing real life topics from their own authentic perspective.
After making a name in the underground scene, which highlights their raw, energetic headline shows in packed venues The Water Rats, Troubadour, The Victoria, Bread & Roses, as well as remarkable performances at Lafayette London and The Great Escape, Purple Fly is set to release their debut album ‘KANPAI’, early in 2024.
The Deniros:
‘𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙨’ have been most accurately described as 𝙍𝙤𝙘𝙠 ‘𝙣’ 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙡 ; donning a unique sound that blends psychedelic, electric Rock ‘n’ Roll with soulful acoustic elements. Predominantly drawing inspiration from the energy and sound of 60s bands such as, ‘𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙅𝙞𝙢𝙞 𝙃𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙭 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚’ , ‘𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢’, ‘𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨’ , ‘𝙋𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙮𝙙’ and of course – ‘𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙨’.
Before then mixing in a more modern combination of songwriting styles that can often lean the sound towards more indie rock melodies/ riffs. This brings an edge of 90s & early 2000s acts such as ‘𝙊𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙨’ , ‘𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙠𝙚𝙮𝙨’ & ‘𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙨’.
–
Since their first meeting at an open mic in central London in March of 2019, singer songwriters 𝙆𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 & 𝙎𝙖𝙢 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚 decided to form a group. After 3 drummers & long search for a bassist to finally complete their sound, they were joined in 2021 by Simon “Stix” Toolan on drums and Hugo Morales on bass guitar.
–
Despite these inspirations ‘𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙨’ put a very deliberate focus on making no two songs sound quite the same, so expect to hear something you haven’t come across before.
