Bodies of Water’ is an original piece taking a commonly shared women’s experience- the grief process following a miscarriage and the depression that preempted it- and offers it to audiences with compassion, honesty, and a bit of magic.
Birthed at a residency about the spiritual power and importance of water, the performance takes this further by sharing water as a symbol for vulnerability. The show not only touches on the importance of being kind, compassionate, and honest about women’s mental health, but also the space and time often required to heal.
This piece is an ode to water in all its forms and symbols. It is an invitation, a prayer, and hopefully a gift that allows the audience to sit for a moment- not in someone’s pain, but the hope that inevitably rises if we give it time. The show begins with lights up, the audience invited to an evening of storytelling to experience theatre the way people have been experiencing stories for centuries; gently and with no goal except sharing space and memory together.
