Liam C has done everything the hard way. Growing up in Colchester, his parents split up at an
early age, and this saw Liam living with his mum and younger sister. At this point his
grandmother was a real inspiration: she believed in him when few others did and introduced him
to a unique mix of musical styles, including early touchstone Jilted John.
After a while Liam relocated to Shrewsbury with his mum and sister to be nearer to relatives as
his mum was working all hours to make ends meet. Liam and his sister became incredibly close,
and she has proved an inspiration and driven Liam to try and achieve his dreams.
Despite switching towns and schools, Liam never really settled, often bullied. Isolated, he felt
stifled and wanted to find a way to express himself and he found his way with music. After going
back and forth to Colchester with no prospects there, he headed to London with the last of his
money to try to make his mark. He had nowhere to live and no job, and began moving from
hostel to hostel and couch to couch, living out of a backpack with new acquaintances he met on
the streets helping him out.
With nowhere to live and no conventional way to earn money, he turned to busking. Armed with
a handful of original songs, a smartphone, and a ukulele, he soon realized that passively waiting
for an audience wouldn’t work. Driven by a will to survive, belief in himself, and the conviction
that this was his moment, he began approaching people directly, outside pubs, in parks,
anywhere he thought someone might listen. Connections were made, and his Instagram
following began to grow.
One day, he learned that Ed Sheeran was shooting a music video at The Box, Soho. After his
initial attempts to get in failed, he slipped on a nearby hi‑vis jacket and managed to sneak
inside. Before he knew it, he was face to face with one of his musical heroes. They chatted for
half an hour with Ed offering advice and listening to a couple of Liam’s early tunes. It was an
experience he’ll never forget and one that further cemented his belief that he was on the right
track.
Liam was soon discovered by geezer south-Lonon hip-hop act The Manor. They took him under
their wing and soon his music found its way to Future Cut, the legendary production duo behind
some of the biggest acts of the past twenty years. Both parties clicked immediately, and they
have been collaborating ever since, honing Liam’s sound and creating mini‑vignettes that
showcase the immense, genuine talent at the heart of this working‑class kid.
Since then, viral encounters with Will Smith and Rita Ora have earned him global attention. Just
last month, his annual trip to Glastonbury became the first stop on his DOLLA DOLLA
promotional trail. As ever, his adventures went viral, this time catching TikTok’s eye as he was
featured in their newsletter, alongside Olivia Rodrigo, Lewis Capaldi, Charli XCX, and RAYE.
Millions more views poured in for his Glastonbury clips, with one alone surpassing four million
alone, highlighting the connection this one‑off artist is forging with fans at home and around the
world.
An inspirational figure, Liam’s story is one of hard work and charisma, hustle and heart. From
having no music‑industry connections and no BRIT School credentials, he has shown that
anything is possible when you believe in yourself. DOLLA DOLLA marks the beginning of the
next chapter in the Liam C story. No one will want to miss it.
