The Great Vance: The story of the one of Music Hall’s earliest stars.
Vance toured provincial theatres with his own one-man show, featuring acting, singing and dancing. He first appeared on stage in London in 1859, and the following year made his first music hall appearance with his brother.
This talk will be presented by Peter Charlton with musical accompaniment from Stephen Lethbridge. Peter Charlton is one of the Historians for the British Music Hall Society (BMHS) and has a wealth of knowledge on music hall performers. Peter has been giving talks for the BMHS for over 20 years and previous topics include Jay Laurier, Harry Champion and Wilkie Bard.
