FestLatAm presents AlterLatino Week

AINDA + Tomás Gaeta

Doors open: 7pm / Tomás Gaeta: 7.30pm / Ainda: 8.30pm (Times might vary slightly)

Ainda is formed by Yago Escrivá and Esmeralda Escalante, both of whom live in Buenos Aires, Argentina and met at a young age to give life to their current musical project. Previously their project was known as Ainda Dúo.

After an audiovisual director discovered the talent of both artists in 2012 and they recorded a version of the guarania “Recuerdos de Ypacarai” (an original song by Javier Solís), their music began to be recognised by more people, so they began to release their first recordings.

Their official debut was in 2013 when Ainda released Uno, with their own production and creation by Yago and Esmeralda. They later released Segundo in 2015 with a composition by 13 musicians in total, including guests such as Maya Belsitzman, Matan Ephrat from Israel, Pedro Rossi, Lucio Mantel, among others.

On the other hand, their album, Animal from 2018, with collaborations by Iñaki Colombo from Bandalos Chinos and El Zar, their music painted with a more pop character, definitely positioned them as one of the revelations of the independent scene: the album was nominated for the Gardel Awards in the category Best Alternative Pop Album.

Their album, Millones, saw the change of their name to just Ainda. The production was in charge of Adan Jodorowsky, and it portrays the closing of an era through a mostly homogeneous and serene music, the album also features Jorge Drexler in their song, Primavera.

This year the duo are showing us a new face and creative maturity with the release of Te Quiero, which features collaborations with Conociendo Rusia, Perotá Chingó, El Zar, Feli Colina and Bandalos Chinos.

The make their debut UK concert as part of their Te Quiero Tour 2023.

Support by Tomás Gaeta

The magic of Uruguayan-born, London-based Tomás Gaeta’s songwriting lies in its subtlety. With jazzy chord sequences & lilting vocals warmer than an August balcony breeze, his alt-folk storytelling will spirit you to far-off oceans & bygone days, while still remaining rooted in the emotional soil of modern-day city life.

Following 2019’s well-received Luces album (with Tom, Chris & Tom), & his own Marcalibros EP in 2021, Tomás took a year out to study music & hone his sonic identity. He is currently working on a second set of solo songs to be recorded in Gröndahl – Fascination Street Recording studios (Sweden) with percussionist and drummer Gregorio Merchán, whose powerful arrangements & unusual marriage of English & Spanish lyrics display every ounce of his newfound confidence.
