CYCLING BOOK LAUNCH NIGHT, 9 JULY: Michael Hutchinson launches his latest book, Further, exploring the strange world of extreme endurance cyclists.
The book is a follow-up to Michael’s three previous much-loved cycling best-sellers: The Hour (about the history of cycling’s Hour Record and Michael’s own part in it); Faster (about the science of speed); and Re:Cyclists (a history of cycling).
A 56-times British time-trial champion and longtime Cycling Weekly columnist, Michael is steeped in cycling culture – but spending two years among the ultra-distance community immersed him in a new world. Are his new compadres inspirational or unhinged – or both? ‘Further’ shows us inside a unique part of sport, with Michael’s trademark mix of laidback wit and crisp observation.
Michael will be discussing the book with former Procycling magazine writer Duncan Steer – and there will be a chance to ask your own questions.
The first 20 tickets are £12 or £22 including a softback copy of Further (RRP £14.99). Full-price tickets are £15 or £25 including a book.
The Water Rats Theatre is just six minutes’ walk from King’s Cross underground and mainline stations.
